Special Olympics USA Team Includes 3 From Rhode Island

RHODE ISLAND — Rhode Island will send three representatives to the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, a spokesperson for Special Olympics USA said Thursday.

The games will be held from June 17 to 25, when the 201-member delegation represents the U.S. by competing in 14 sports. Those sports include athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, cycling, golf, gymnastics (artistic), gymnastics (rhythmic), kayaking, powerlifting, sailing, soccer, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.

"It is with tremendous excitement and pride to learn that Brian, Dave, and Adam will be representing Rhode Island as members of Special Olympics USA,” Ed Pacheco, the president of Special Olympics Rhode Island, said in a statement. "Through their participation on the world stage, our very own athletes, unified partners, and coaches will have the opportunity to showcase their talents for all to see what we already know, Rhode Island is home to the greatest athletes in the world."
