RHODE ISLAND — Restaurants, coffee shops and other businesses are thanking Rhode Island’s veterans and active-duty military personnel for their service with special Veterans Day discounts, freebies and deals. Veterans Day, which is always observed on Nov. 11, falls on Monday this year.
Some deals start this weekend. A military ID or proof of military service or veteran status is required on most deals. As always, call ahead to your local franchises for these national chains to make sure they’re participating.

Applebee’s: Veterans and active-duty military personnel who dine in receive a free meal from a select menu on Monday.
BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: No minimum purchase is required for this deal available to former and current military personnel with a valid ID (dine-in customers only). They get a free Chocolate Chunk Pizookie on Monday only, as well as a coupon good from Nov. 12-Dec. 31 for a free appetizer that can be used for dine-in or take-out orders.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active-duty military personnel get 10 free boneless wings and fries with a valid ID on Monday. The deal is good for both dine-in and walk-in orders placed at the counter.
Carrabba’s: Veterans and active military personnel who show a valid service ID can get an entrée when they dine-in and take home another entrée of equal or lesser value for free from Friday through Sunday. Then on Veterans Day, they can get a complimentary dine-in appetizer or dessert and non-alcoholic beverage.
Chili’s: Veterans and active-duty military members get a free meal from a select menu on Monday at all participating restaurants (dine-in only). A military ID is required to redeem the offer.
Dave & Buster’s: Veterans get a free entrée (up to $20) and a free $10 Power Card with a valid veterans ID card on Monday.
Denny’s: Veterans and active-duty military personnel showing a military Id or DD214 (certificate of discharge) receive a free Original Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m.-noon Monday.
Dunkin’: Active and retired military personnel get a free doughnut on Monday while supplies last (in-store only).
Farmer Boys: On Monday, veterans and active-duty military personnel get a free Big Cheese burger at participating locations on Monday (dine-in only).
Fogo de Chão: Veterans and active-duty military personnel get half off the Full Churrsaco Experience and three of their guests will receive a 10 percent discount on Monday (dine-in only).
Hooters: On Monday, retired and active-duty military personnel who present proof of service or a military ID who purchase a beverage can get a free meal (dine-in only at participating restaurants).
IHOP: From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, veterans and active-duty military personnel who dine in person can get a free Red, White and Blueberry Pancake Combo.
Johnny Rockets: Veterans and active-duty military personnel get a free single burger with the purchase of any drink or shake on Monday (dine-in only). To claim the deal, show a military Id or wear a military uniform.
Legal Sea Foods: All veterans and active-duty military personnel get a free bowl of chowder on Monday (dine-in only, except for airport locations).
Little Caesars: From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, veterans and active-duty military personnel can get a complimentary Lunch Combo, which includes four slides of the signature Detroit-style pizza and a 20-ounce drink.
LongHorn Steakhouse: On Sunday and Monday, veterans and active-duty military personnel get 10 percent off their meal, along with a free appetizer or dessert for their table (dine-in and call-in orders only).
Olive Garden: Veterans and active military personnel get a complimentary entrée from a special menu on Monday (dine-in only).
Playa Bowls: On Monday, veterans with a military ID get a free bowl (in-store only).
Raising Cane’s: Any active or nonactive military and their spouses get 10 percent off their entire purchase on Monday when they mention the Hero Discount Program at the register. They will need to have a valid ID to receive the discount.
Red Robin: Veterans and active-duty military personnel get a complimentary Red's Big Tavern Burger and Bottomless Side when dining in at participating restaurants on Monday.
Smokey Bones: Veterans and military personnel with a military ID or proof of service can claim a free Create Your Own Combo meal with no additional purchase (dine-in only).
Sonic Drive-In: On Monday, shakes of any size and flavor, including Classic and Master Shakes, are half price.
Starbucks: Veterans, military service members and their spouses get a free 12-ounce not or iced coffee Monday at participating stores and licensed locations.
Texas Roadhouse: Active-duty military personnel and veterans can dine in or receive a meal voucher from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday with a form of military ID. The vouchers are good through May 30, 2025. Dine-in customers on Veterans Day will order from a special menu.
