Wanted Cranston Man Hit With Felony Drug Charges: Cops

He was initially only wanted on a warrant charging him with simple assault or battery, the Rhode Island State Police said.

A wanted Cranston man was hit with felony drug charges, the Rhode Island State Police said.

Jesus Matos, 33, was wanted on a warrant charging him with simple assault or battery in connection with a Warwick Police Department case, the state police said in a media release.

State trooper paid a visit to Matos' Bailey Street home shortly after 9:15 p.m. Wednesday and arrested him not only on the warrant charging him with simple assault or battery, but also on charges of manufacturing, delivering or possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing, delivering or possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, manufacturing, delivering or possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, possession of fentanyl, and possession of crack cocaine, according to the release.

Matos was processed at the Wickford Barracks and held overnight pending his arraignment in the Third Division District Court where he was to be presented as a probation violator, the release said.
