Warwick Movie Theater To Reopen July 3

The Showcase Cinema on Quaker Lane will show classics such as Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters throughout the month of July for $5.

WARWICK, RI — The Showcase Cinema on Quaker Lane is set to reopen Friday, with new safety regulations in place. All patrons will be required to wear a mask and socially distance from others while seated.

Because so many theatrical releases were delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, the theater will show fan favorite classic films, including the Harry Potter films, Mission Impossible, The Fast and the Furious, Ghostbusters, Mamma Mia, Raiders of the Lost Ark and more. All tickets will cost $5. New films are scheduled to return July 31 with "Unhinged," starring Russel Crowe, followed by The Broken Hearts Gallery, Tenet and Disney's Mulan. More information about the schedule, which is subject to change, is available online.

All employees will be screened for coronavirus symptoms and will be required to wear masks at all times and gloves for food service. Capacity will be reduced in auditoriums, and air purifiers have been installed in the building, along with plexiglass barriers at ticket and concession counters.

There will be limits on how many people can sit together, and hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the building. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned frequently, the theater's owners said, and there will be more time between showings to allow for more thorough cleaning.

"During the last few months we have worked with our industry partners to re-envision our Showcase customer experience to make health and safety our main focus," said Mark Malinowski, vice president of global marketing. "We are calling our program Be Showcase Safe and are strongly encouraging our customers to work together with our employees and follow these new health and safety protocols as we are working toward the same goal — a safe and fun movie-going experience!"
