Yuki - Adoptable at Warwick Animal Shelter

A is for AKITA! Meet Yuki, a Happy and Healthy Big Girl

YUKI, adoptable at Warwick Animal Shelter (Warwick Animal Shelter)

WARWICK, RI:
Yuki is quite a character, a big happy girl with lots of personality and brains. Akitas are an ancient Japanese breed known for their courage and loyalty but she is also goofy and playful! Yuki seems to get along with dog-friendly dogs although she’s probably a better match with a male dog than with another female. As you can see, Yuki is a photogenic girl and has the "head tilt pose" perfected. She is a favorite among some staff and we estimate her age at approximately 7 years. Yuki arrived in February, is house-trained and was spayed and vaccinated at the shelter. The Akita breed is not a good choice for novice dog owners and Yuki is not suitable in a home with children, as with most Akitas, she is aloof with people she doesn't know.

Yuki’s double coat will require regular brushing and more so when shedding. We love her curly tail! Akitas are symbols of health, happiness and long life, and we’d add that Yuki’s silly antics will keep you laughing too.

We love Yuki's curly tail!
