Monday, Sept. 10

4:01 p.m. – Police arrested Samantha Paolino, 22, of Post Road in Warwick, for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for speeding on Friendship Street. Routine checks turned up the license violation. Police issued Paolino a court summons; a friend arrived to drive the car away.

7:21 p.m. – Police arrested Juan Espinosa, 42, of Alice Street in East Providence, on a bench warrant after a cleaning crew he was working with in a building on South County Trail tripped an alarm. Police asked to see identifications from the three-man cleaning crew and conducted routine checks, turning up the warrant. He was taken to the EG station, processed, allowed to make bail, and released.

Tuesday, Sept. 11

1:50 p.m. – A North Kingstown man told police his wife, from whom he is estranged and who lives in East Greenwich, had been repeatedly contacting him for the past 10 days, calling and texting him. He has a No Contact order on his wife from July. Police left a phone message for the woman, who lives on Duke Street, telling her to stop contacting the man.

4:20 p.m. – Police arrested Shadrick Simms, 37, of Warwick Avenue in Warwick, for possessing marijuana after he and another man were seen smoking a joint on Main Street. Simms told police he had a small bag of marijuana in his backpack. He was processed at the station, issued a court summons and released.

6:30 p.m. – Police arrested Robert Mattingly, 41, of South Pierce Road, for driving with a suspended license after police – who had arrested him twice on the same charge a week earlier – saw him driving on South Pierce Road and turn into his driveway. Because he’d been arrested on a drug possession charge the previous week also, he and the car were thoroughly searched. Police found a crack pipe in one of his pockets and a “very small” amount of white substance was found in the car. It was taken to be tested. Mattingly was issued a summons on the license violation and released at the scene.

Wednesday, Sept. 12

8:08 a.m. – A woman complained about obstructions on Sixth Avenue, the second such complaint police have received in September. Police found a minivan parked 18 inches away from the curb and two portable basketball nets, one partially in the street. The resident had told police after the initial complaint she would move the obstructions. Police notified the owner of the car, a friend of the resident, about the problem. They forwarded the report to the town building inspector for violation followup.

4:01 p.m. – Police arrested Lyrathana In, 26, of Farmington Avenue in Cranston, for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for speeding on Division Street near Kenyon Street. Routine checks turned up the license violation. Police issued In a court summons, had his car towed, and dropped him at a bus stop.
