Cole Presents "Getting to Know the Sound of Music"

Performances on Friday, Nov. 13 and Sat. Nov. 14.

The award winning Cole Middle School Drama Club performs “Getting to Know the Sound of Music” on Friday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 14 at 4:00 p.m. in the East Greenwich High School Auditorium. The production is a condensed version of the Sound of Music designed specifically for middle schools and runs just over an hour.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Cole main office or at the door, if available, for $10 each.

Bethany Verret directs and Jennifer Armstrong music directs a cast of 54 students. An additional 50 students serve as crew for the performance. Danielle Salisbury and Barbara Brusini are the Drama Club advisors and the producers of the show. The students involved have spent the past 11 weeks learning lines, rehearsing choreography, singing, designing props, building sets, and creating make-up and costumes.

“The Sound of Music” premiered on Broadway in 1959, featuring music by Richard Rogers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The movie version celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015.
