East Greenwich Parks and Rec Offering April Vacation Program
Registration begins April 1 and slots go fast!

From East Greenwich Parks and Recreation:
The East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department will be offering five days of trips and activities for area children, in grades 1-6, during the April Vacation. Children may either sign up for a whole day of activities or simply a trip or a project. Registrations will begin on Friday, April 1st. EG Residents may sign up online as long as they have a preapproved online account. For paper registrations, get your form to the office before the first day of registration as the office will begin enrolling lottery style on April 1st. The best chance of getting your selection will be via the online process as classes will fill. Camper-ships and reduced fees are available for those on public assistance.
The office will be open at 8:30am and close at 5:00pm, for those needing extending care. Children will participate in the scheduled trips and activities. No alternative activities are planned, so sign up early to secure a spot as space is limited. There is an extra fee for the extended day.

Activities begin on Monday, April 18th with an art workshop with KidzArt. Julie will lead a drawing workshop using fine art supplies to create a springtime picture. The program takes place at the Parks & Recreation Office from 9:30-11am. On Monday afternoon the group will take a guided nature hike with the Audubon Society of RI at their Caratunk site in Seekonk. The bus will depart at 1:00pm and return at 4:00pm.
On Tuesday, April 19th join come see over 100 different species of locally-collected marine life in over 80 different exhibits at Biomes Marine Center. Learn gallons of information at the learning stations: adaptations, habitats, feeding behaviors & tropical strays. Get your hands wet at the petting stations: tide pool animals, eels, horseshoe crabs, sea stars and sharks!! The bus will depart at 9:30am and return at 11:30am. On Tuesday afternoon the group will be off to the Battlegroundz and the Monkey Shack for action packed games of lazer tag and arcade games. The trip will depart at 1:00pm and return at 4:00pm.

On Wednesday, April 20th, there will be a trip to the Old Sturbridge Village. A "must-see" New England attraction which depicts life in an early 19th-century rural Village, featuring costumed historians, antique buildings, water-powered mills, and a working farm. You can view antiques, meet heritage breed animals, and take part in hands-on crafts. The bus departs and 9:15am and will be returning at 3:30pm.
On Thursday, April 21st children will visit with the giraffes, the elephants, the birds, and monkeys at Roger Williams Park Zoo. The bus will depart at 9:30am and return at 12:30pm. Thursday afternoon get a behind the scenes look at McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox! You’ll get a chance to visit the locker rooms, training room and other areas the fans never get to see. The bus departs at 1:15 and returns at 3:15pm.
The week wraps up on Friday, April 22nd when children will explore the Ecotarium in Worchester, MA. There are numerous hands-on exhibits to learn about waves, insects, dinosaurs, minerals, and bubbles, as well as live animal exhibits. This trip will depart at 9:45am and return at 3:30pm.
