EG Closings and Delays: Parking Ban, Senior Services and More

EAST GREENWICH, RI—Flakes are falling, school is cancelled and a parking ban is in effect as another winter storm bears down on the region.

East Greenwich police instituted a parking ban that began at 5 a.m., so if you have a car parked on the street, it’s time to get it tucked somewhere else.

The parking ban will be in effect until further notice.

School officials made the decision to cancel classes Monday on Sunday night at around the same time as the rest of the state made the call. While roads were still clear this morning when the school commute would have been underway, conditions quickly became poor once hard snowfall began at around 9 a.m.

Also closed for the day is the East Greenwich Free Library, East Greenwich Senior Services, most preschools and private schools and several doctors offices and businesses.

Town Hall is open, though there was a delayed opening at 10:30 a.m. due to the snow.

So how much snow will East Greenwich get?

While the storm could drift west or east and snowfall totals could chance, as it stands, the National Weather Service expects 5 to 10 inches for most of the state.
