Five Things: Avenger Tailgate, Restaurant Week

Goddard Park Farmers Market: In addition to all the great food vendors at the GP market, there will be a free electronics waste drop-off provided by Indie Cycle, LLC. All types of electronic items will be accepted, including computers, printers, stereo equipment, microwaves, TVs, monitors, cell phones, and small appliances – anything with a wire! A $10 disposal fee is charged for air conditioners, dehumidifiers, & mini refrigerators. For more information see www.indiecycle.com or call 401-484-8838. The market goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Avenger Football Tailgate: Last year, the EGHS Class Council of 2013 battled a torrential downpour in order to host its first tailgate. This year, they are back better, bigger, and drier for their second tailgate! Come support the football team and senior class tonight starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include a choice of 2 hot dogs, a hamburger or veggie burger, chips, drinks, desserts and a ticket to EGHS's first home football game – and . All are invited to attend. We hope to see you there! Proceeds will go toward the senior class.

EG Restaurant Week begins today: More than 30 restaurants are taking part in EG’s first-ever Restaurant Week. It kicks off with “Savor East Greenwich,” an event at the East Greenwich Yacht Club that will feature food from several participating restaurants. Cruise Night: The nights are just lovely lately, aren’t they? If you aren’t heading to the football game, swing by the Crestar parking lot to check out the classic cars and maybe have a Pops hot dog or two. These cars are coooool. From 5 to 8 p.m.

Smiles & Sangria for Sara: earlier this week. Sara, owner of Sundance Therapies on Main Street, has Hodgkins lymphoma and will undergo a month-long stem cell rescue treatment soon. To help with those costs not covered by health insurance, friends are holding a fundraiser for her on Sunday, at the EG Fireman's Hall at 5 p.m. There will be food, music, and a silent auction. $35. Tickets are available at Back to Basic, Sundance, and Cortney Shae nail salon or at the door.

EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.
