Five Things: EGHS Open House, Looking Ahead

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Sept. 13.


EG High School Open House: If you’ve got a student at EGHS, tonight’s the night you get to pretend you’re in high school again. Sort of. You will move from class to class, meeting your child’s teachers and learning a bit more about their school day. It begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information about the Open House, including a schedule, refer to the pdf attached at right. FYI, the other school open houses are Meadowbrook Farms on Sept. 9, Frenchtown on Sept. 20, Eldredge on Sept. 27, and Cole on Oct. 4. Hanaford held its open house Wednesday night.

Tailgate Friday for first EG Football home game: The Seniors are holding a tailgate extravaganza Friday evening before the first home game (vs. Ponagansett) of the season. Everyone – everyone! – is welcome. .

EG Restaurant Week begins Friday: More than 30 restaurants are taking part in EG’s first-ever Restaurant Week. It kicks off with “Savor East Greenwich,” an event at the East Greenwich Yacht Club that will feature food from several participating restaurants. Electronics Recycling Drive: Have you collected "Too Much Tech" over the years? Recycle your electronics properly – join Bridge Technical Solutions on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Texas Roadhouse parking lot. This will be the fourth e-waste drive BRIDGE has organized and sponsored since 2009. This one, we will also have a paper shredder on hand. To learn more, check out the Bridge blog here.

Historic walking tour this Saturday: [This event is full as of Wednesday night, but the Friends say another tour will be scheduled soon!] East Greenwich historian and author Bruce MacGunnigle will lead a walking tour of the town's historic Hill neighborhood along Peirce Street and Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 15.
