No school today: It’s the Jewish New Year, hence no school today.
Rosh Hashanah: The Jewish New Year is the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman. The central observance of Rosh Hashanah is the sounding of the shofar, the ram’s horn.
EG Farmers Market: The market is going great guns this season, with new vendors and old favorites. Parking can get crowded around Rector Street, so stow your car in the parking lot by Swift Community Center and walk across the field. Then you can buy that cookie from Wild Harvest, June Love, or Seven Stars with NO guilt! From 3 to 6 p.m.
Avenger home games: Cross Country Meet at Goddard Park versus Johnston and Toll Gate at 3 p.m.; Boys Soccer versus Mt. Hope, JV at 4:15 and Varsity at 6 p.m.
EG Restaurant Week: More than 30 restaurants are taking part in EG’s first-ever Restaurant Week through Sept. 22. For a list of all the participants and other information, click here.
Post your Events and Announcements on EG Patch: If you have something you’d like to see on the EG Patch calendar, upload it by clicking here and finding the “Add an Event” tab on the right. The Events Calendar is my go-to spot for the daily Five Things column. If you want to be featured in Five Things, make sure you post your items on the calendar! If you have something you’d like to post as an Announcement, you can do that by clicking here and finding the "Add an Announcement" tab on the right. I routinely post Announcements to the EG Patch home page. If you need assistance, please contact me (elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com).
