EG Chamber’s Business After Hours: Tonight’s Biz After Hours takes place at Yardney, the battery manufacturer that recently moved operations from Connecticut to EG (South County Trail just south of Middle Road). From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All are welcome – $5 for members, $10 for non-members.
Cocktails for a Cure at 1149: In commemoration of Esophageal Cancer Awareness month, the Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation cordially invites you to Cocktails in Hopes of a Cure on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1149 Restaurant. This is a networking event designed to bring people together in a social atmosphere while raising awareness of esophageal cancer and supporting the Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit charity. Lecture by Pulitzer winner: Salve Regina is sponsoring a free lecture by Isabel Wilkerson, a Pulitzer-Prize winning reporter for the NYT and the author of the well-regarded book, The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration. An Evening with Isabel Wilkerson takes place in Bazarsky Lecture Hall at the university’s campus in Newport at 7:30 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. Reservations suggested. House panel to vote on EGFD bill: The R.I. House Committee on Municipal Affairs is scheduled to vote on legislation to merge the East Greenwich Fire District with the Town of East Greenwich. Approval will move the bill to the full House for a vote. It’s to take place “at the rise of the House,” – in other words, sometime after 4 p.m. Room 203 of the State House.
