Five Things: Goddard Park Beach Reopened; Rainbows

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, June 18.

Rainbow pictures: Do you have a picture of last night's GIGANTIC rainbow? If so, feel free to upload it here.

Goddard Park Beach reopened: The Rhode Island Department of Health has recommended the opening of Goddard Memorial State Park and Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick to swimming. The following beaches remain closed to swimming due to high bacteria counts: Oakland Beach and City Park Beach in Warwick, as well as North Kingstown Town Beach. For up-to-date information about swimming at Rhode Island beaches, call (401) 222-2751 or visit www.health.ri.gov/beaches to use the state's interactive beach map.

School Committee meeting: One of the items on the agenda (which you can read here) is appointment of a new director of student services – the person who handles special education among other things. It’s taken nearly a year to find a permanent replacement for Paula Dillon, who took a job last summer with the Barrington School Department.
