OLM Pastor’s Installation: New pastor Fr. Bernard Healey’s Mass of Installation takes place this morning at 10:30 at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Read about Fr. Healey here.
Buddy Walk: The Down Syndrome Society of Rhode Island holds its annual Buddy Walk this morning at Goddard Park. All are welcome at this celebration of people with Down syndrome and exercise. Signup starts at 10 a.m. with the walk itself starting at 11 a.m. Registration costs $10 for individuals, $25 for families. Lunch follows for all participants. Get to know some of the coolest people around! (Ed. note: My son James has Down syndrome and is incredibly cool.)
Yard Sale: Large lot of baby items, clothing, toys, bouncers, high chair, stroller, and much much more, outside toys, videos, etc and misc household items all priced to sell. Some furniture., some yard equip, few tools, and an SUV! Please no early birds. From 8 a.m. to noon at 255 Tillinghast Road.
Adopt-A-Pet Open House: Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.
Grief Support: This group meets in the Christ Church office condo on Sunday afternoons and is for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. Each week there is a video which covers different topics pertinent to those who are grieving. Following the video there is time to discuss the contents with others in the group. Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. It is a safe and welcoming environment. For more information, contact the church at 884-8632.
Smiles & Sangria for Sara: earlier this week. Sara, owner of Sundance Therapies on Main Street, has Hodgkins lymphoma and will undergo a month-long stem cell rescue treatment soon. To help with those costs not covered by health insurance, friends are holding a fundraiser for her on Sunday, at the EG Fireman's Hall at 5 p.m. There will be food, music, and a silent auction. $35. Tickets are available at Back to Basic, Sundance, and Cortney Shae nail salon or at the door.
