Skidmore's John McCarthy Named Player Of The Week

Skidmore senior golfer John McCarthy was been named Performer of the Week, as announced by the Liberty League, Monday, March 25.

McCarthy tied for seventh place out of 160 competitors in the 42nd annual Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The senior shot 70-69-74-213 to help Skidmore secure a seventh place finish in the 30 team field.

The Thoroughbreds will return to the links April 13-14 at the Manhattanville Invite, held in Middletown, Conn.

McCarthy's 2011-2012 season: Liberty League Champion...Shot 74-67--141 to win Liberty League tournament by three strokes...67 on final day set a tournament course record...All-Liberty League First Team...Also won McDaniel Invitational and Palamountain Invitational...Liberty League Performer of the Week (9-26-11, 4-2-12, 4-23-12, 4-30-12).

2012-2013: All-Liberty League First Team...Named Liberty League Performer of the Week (3-25-13).

McCarthy is a graduate of East Greenwich High School, Class of 2009. He is a senior at Skidmore, studying business.
