Joseph L. Fava, Sr., 98

He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, a lifetime member of the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman's Association and a 1928 graduate of East Greenwich Grammar School.


Joseph L. Fava, Sr., 98, passed away April 8. He was the husband of the late Isabelle V. (Ciunci) Fava. Born in East Greenwich, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Concetta (Giardina) Fava.

Mr. Fava was a civilian employee of Quonset Naval Air Station for over 25 years, until his retirement. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, a lifetime member of the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman's Association, member of the American Legion, Post #15, was an avid bowler and a 1928 graduate of East Greenwich Grammar School.

He is survived by his two sons Joseph L. Fava, Jr., and his wife, Michele, and Richard P. Fava and his wife, Susan; grandchildren Rachel, Christopher and Alex; and was brother of the late Biagio, Carmine and Salvatore Fava and Santina Franzone.

Funeral Friday at 9 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
