Man Struck by Commuter Rail Train in EG, Dies

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority said the man was walking on the tracks early Friday morning.

A man has died after being struck by a commuter rail train in East Greenwich early Friday morning.

A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority said that the man was walking on the tracks near Lincoln and Union Streets at around 4:45 a.m. when he was hit by a service train.

Lt. Richard Sullivan of the Transit Police said that no passengers were on the train at the time of the incident.

The man has not been identified by authorities.

The man reportedly was trespassing on an MBTA right of way and died from his injuries.

The incident resulted in some train delays on Friday morning. The MBTA used shuttle busses for passengers during the subsequent investigation.
