Nobody Hurt in Back-to-Back Crashes in East Greenwich
East Greenwich firefighters were busy on Easter Sunday.
EAST GREENWICH, RI—East Greenwich firefighters had their hands full on Easter Sunday after back-to-back crashes.
Only minor injuries were suffered in either crash.
The first crash happened at around 4:45 p.m. when two cars collided at the intersection of First Avenue and Main Street.

Crews used the Jaws of Life to remove a door from one of the cars to free an elderly couple that was inside. Both were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the other car was not injured.

About five minutes later, crews were dispatched to Division Road near Sanctuary Drive for a single-car accident that took out a telephone pole.
In that crash, the driver was not hurt and refused medical treatement at the scene.
The snapped pole dangled by just wires until National Grid arrived to replace the pole.
Members of the Warwick Fire Department provided mutual aid assistance to East Greenwich as local crews handled the crashes.
