Obituary: Alice E. (Collier) Bacon, 93

Mrs. Bacon served for many years as a mathematics teacher and guidance counselor in the Warwick public schools.


Alice E. (Collier) Bacon, 93, died on March 27 in Providence. She was the widow of Alfred “Pete” Bacon, the daughter of James and Alice Collier, and the sister of the late James M. Collier.

She is survived by her son, Alfred, and his wife Debbie; grandsons Alfred Jr.; Derrick, and his wife Joanna; and Brian, and his wife Alexandra; great grandson Austin; great granddaughters Addisyn and Caitlyn, as well as beloved nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bacon graduated from Classical High School and Rhode Island College. She received a master’s degree from URI. She served for many years as a mathematics teacher and guidance counselor in the Warwick public schools.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed travel, the theater, concerts, and socializing with friends. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich and many organizations, including the R.I. Federation of Teachers; the R.I. Retired Teachers’ Association; and the Kent County Retired Teachers’ Association; Eastern Star; East Greenwich Sunshine; and the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society.

The funeral will be private. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Peirce and Montrose streets, East Greenwich.
