Obituary: Eileen (Smith) Richter, 63

Eileen (Smith) Richter, 63, went home to Jesus on Sunday, March 31. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rolf Richter, and her two children, Kelly and Christopher. Her parents were the late Noel and Regina Smith.

Eileen grew up in the Edgewood section of Cranston and graduated from Cranston High School East. For most of her career she was an employee at the General Internal Medicine Department at Rhode Island Hospital. She was a member of Christ Church in East Greenwich and active in their outreach program for children.

Eileen's life was filled with devotion to her family, her church and the protection of animals. During her time on earth, she touched many lives. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her five siblings, Regina Rego of Cranston, Rosemary Giammarco of Warwick, Christopher Smith of East Greenwich, and Patrick Smith and Andrew Smith, both of Cranston; eight nieces and nephews as well as brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral Service Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St. Visitation prior to the service will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
