Obituary: Nicholas L. Amato, 87

He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the Pacific.


Nicholas L. Amato, 87, passed away March 21 at home. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwendoline (Jones) Amato. Born in East Greenwich, he was a son of the late Rocco and Rose (Denice) Amato.

Mr. Amato retired from Bostitch after 30 years of service. He later worked daughter and son-in-law's business, the former South County Antiques. He was a WWII Army Veteran who served in the Pacific and a sharp shooter 2nd class gunner.

Besides his wife he is survived by sons David B. and Derrick Amato and daughter Rose D. Boughton, four grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral service takes place Monday at 11 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St. Burial with full military honors will be in R.I. Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
