Obituary: Virginia Rose Gallogly, 87
What brought her the most joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother, and for her no sacrifice was too great for her family.

Virginia Rose (Guillette) Gallogly, 87, formerly of Providence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 6, in Warwick surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Attleboro, Mass., to the late Louis and Rosella (Farrell) Guillette, she was a graduate of Attleboro High School and attended Boston University. She was Assistant Office Supervisor for John Hancock Insurance Co. where she met her husband of 41 years, Lawrence P. Gallogly, who pre-deceased her in 1991. She moved with her family to Providence in 1953. She worked in the Slavic Languages Department at Brown University for many years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed painting, drawing and reading with her children and grandchildren, and she loved to swim. Ginny enjoyed traveling to Germany, France and Ireland with family members and eagerly followed the travels and education of her children and grandchildren. What brought her the most joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother, and for her no sacrifice was too great for her family.
Ginny is survived by her children; Kathleen and her husband Gerald Rheaume of Westfield, Mass.; Elizabeth Gallogly Burt and her husband Steven Burt of New Canaan, Conn.; David and his wife Laura Dowd of Boston; Stephen and his wife Renee Desclaux of Potomac, Maryland; Richard and his wife Bonnie Katz of Newton, Mass.; and Timothy and his wife Kristine (Atkins) of East Greenwich; and grandchildren Patrick, Ellen and Claire Rheaume, Kevin and Peter Burt, and Julia, Meredith, Lynn, Rose, Adele, Rebecca, Kate, Ian, Hannah, Logan, Alexandra, Christopher and Margaret Gallogly; and her siblings Dr. William Guillette of Coventry, Conn., Muriel Hobin of Narragansett, R.I., Dr. Helen Vassallo of Worcester, Mass., Robert Guillette of North Attleboro, Mass., Richard Guillette of Franklin, Mass., and Ann Hart of Narragansett, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Dr. James Guillette of Worcester, and a sister, Ruth Guillette.

The family is grateful for the caring support of the staff of the Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick, and Beacon Hospice.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the HENAULT – GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Ave., East Greenwich. Interment will follow in the De LaSalle Christian Brothers Cemetery, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett. Visiting hours Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lawrence P.
