Police Log: Warrants, Drinking And Drugs
Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 18
12:50 p.m. – A resident of a house on Frenchtown Road told police she said a suspicious man entering her house on March 13. She is renting the house and talked to the landlord but was suspicious of his explanation. Police followed up with the landlord, who said the man was a carpenter who did work on his properties. The landlord said on that day the carpenter went to the wrong house. He assured police the carpenter did not have keys to the Frenchtown house.

Tuesday, March 19
10:01 a.m. – On Sunday, a Castle Street resident told police he’d been bit by a neighbor’s dog. He said it was minor and he did not want to make a complaint. The Animal Control officer followed up with the dog’s owner Tuesday morning; he gave the necessary vaccination information and signed quarantine papers.

2:30 p.m. – Police reported to a house on Stone Ridge Way to assist EG Fire, which had been called to the house because of smoke coming from the front. It turned out to be a pot on the stove. No one was home and firefighters had to break in. Attempts to reach the homeowner were unsuccessful.
Wednesday, March 20
1:18 a.m. – Police arrested Timothy A. Johns, 39, on a bench warrant after he was seen walking on Main Street, stumbling and weaving side to side, holding onto street signs and buildings to maintain his balance. Police stopped him, smelling alcohol on his breath and person. Routine checks turned up the bench warrant. He was processed at the station and taken to the ACI.
4:30 p.m. – Police checked on a 1967 Volvo parked at Kenyon Avenue and written up a week earlier for being unregistered. It was still there, but further checks found the car had a state antique car registration.
5:15 p.m. – Police arrested Joseph L. Cevoli, Jr., 42, on a bench warrant and possessing both cocaine and marijuana after getting a tip he was on Main Street. Police placed him under arrest and, during a search, found two baggies – one with what looked like marijuana, the other with what looked like cocaine (they tested positive for those substances). Cevoli was held overnight pending arraignment in district court.
