Monday, June 3
10:13 a.m. – Police issued a municipal court summons to a resident of South Road after police found a large bonfire – 20’ by 20’ – in the back of the house. The man did not have a permit for the fire. The EG Fire District extinguished the fine.
2:15 p.m. – A South Road resident told police someone had taken several pieces of jewelry – a charm bracelet, four rings and two necklaces – from her house sometime between May 28 and June 3. She said she thought it was a relative since nothing else was missing and the house was otherwise undisturbed. The relative she was suspicious of did have a key to her house.

5:54 p.m. – Police arrested Scott A. Farley, 37, of Archambault Avenue in Warwick, on a bench warrant and driving with a suspended license after he was stopped while driving on Division Road because things hanging from the rear-view mirror were large enough to obstruct the driver’s view. Routine checks turned up the warrant and the license suspension. He was taken into custody and transported to the ACI.
11 p.m. – Police arrested Joshua J. Mello, 38, and Leif Ericsson Veness, 26, both of Main Street, for assault and disorderly conduct, after they got into a fight at the Normandie Rooms. Mello and Veness were both covered in a white powdery substance, which they each said was because they crashed into a bag of dry wall while they were fighting. Both men were taken into custody, processed at the station and issued district court summonses.

2:24 a.m. – While patroling on Main Street, police heard yelling and screaming coming from a house on Church Street. The residents continued yelling at each other but refused to let police in, shouting profanities at the police. Eventually, police were able to restore the peace from outside the residence.
2:34 p.m. – An Adirondack Drive resident complained that a neighbor’s dog was again running loose on her property. She had emailed a video of the dog running on her lawn Tuesday morning. The animal control officer issued a municipal court summons and mailed it to the owner of the dog.

3:23 a.m. – Police arrested Melissa L. Bassett, 54, of Post Road, for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for driving 40 mph on First Avenue, in a 25 mph zone. Routine checks turned up the license violation and that the car was not registered. Police gave her a traffic court summons for speeding and the registration violation, and a district court summons for the license violation. Bassett was told to report to the EG Police Department before her district court date for processing; her car was towed from the scene.
1:30 p.m. – Police were called to assist EGFD rescue after a Providence woman who was at a house on Hyland Avenue complained of injuries that took place during a fight in Providence earlier in the day with her boyfriend. She had called rescue now, she said, because her head hurt. According to the report, her left eye was slightly swollen and she had a minor cut on her head. She was taken to Kent Hospital.
11:43 p.m. – Police had two cars towed that were parked on the south side of Middle Road near Carrs Pond Drive in an area marked “no parking/tow zone.”
