Police Log: Magazine Peddlers, 'Woman Down' & A Bitten Ear

Thursday, June 6
1:19 p.m. – A former client of Ocean State Health & Fitness complained the owner of the club bothered her while she was eating outside at a cafe nearby the club. She said she was involved in a civil case against the club over money she said was owed to her and while she was eating, the man took her picture with his cell phone and stared at her. They exchanged words. Police told her and the owner to avoid each other.
1:42 p.m. – A Coventry man threatened his doctor while at an appointment at the South County Trail office. The manager of the practice said they were terminating medical services to the patient via registered letter and asked police to issue a no-trespass order against the man, who is on probation.

5 p.m. – A Wildwood Trail resident told police a strange woman was taking pictures of her house earlier. The woman told the homeowner she lived at the house many years ago and wanted pictures of it. They walked to the backyard where the woman tripped and rolled her ankle. The woman refused medical help and left with help from a person who’d been waiting for her in a car. While the woman was not suspicious, the homeowner wanted the incident recorded.
11:25 p.m. – Police had two cars towed that were parked in a no parking zone on Castle Street near Queen Street.

Friday, June 7
10:47 p.m. – Police were called to Main Street near Fresco Cafe on the report of a “woman down.” The woman told police to leave her alone. She appeared to be very drunk and had a small bruise on her face. EG Rescue took the woman to Kent Hospital.
10:56 p.m. – Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a car accident on Cindy Ann Drive. No one was injured in the accident. No other details are available.
Saturday, June 8
4 p.m. – A Marlborough Street woman told police someone had shattered the glass storm door of her apartment while she was out, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The landlord said it looked like it could have been caused by a bb gun shot.
7 p.m. – Police received calls from several residents of Cindy Ann, Lynn Circle and Stone Ridge Road reporting men selling magazines door-to-door. Police met up with three of the salesmen on Stone Ridge and told them they needed to have a permit to solicit in EG. Police were able to talk to their supervisor, who had a Michigan license, later in the evening. They gave him a municipal court summons for soliciting without a permit.
11:02 p.m. – Police arrested Raymond Bell, 23, of Main Street, for domestic assault and battery and disorderly conduct after a fight with his live-in girlfriend. The fight got physical and after his girlfriend allegedly hit Bell in the face, he allegedly retaliated by biting her in the right ear and kicking her in the shin. He was taken to the station for processing. A no-contact order was issued against him for his girlfriend.
11:40 p.m. – Police had a car towed that was parked illegally on Queen Street at Castle Street.

8:51 p.m. – Police had a car towed that was parked illegally on Queen Street near the Fireman’s Hall.
