5 Things to Know About This Weekend
Showers through Sunday; 'Townie Project' pasta dinner; 'Townie Project' 5K road race; Night to Fight Cancer; libraries closed all weekend.

Here are five things you should know about for Memorial Day weekend in and around East Providence.
- Rain showers are expected through Sunday with temperatures only getting up into the mid 50s on Saturday and Sunday; the rain will leave for Memorial Day on Monday with temperatures reaching about 70 degrees.
- The “Townie Project” pasta dinner fundraiser starts at 5:30 pm at the East Providence High School, 2000 Pawtucket Ave.; money will help to restore the high school gymnasium.
- The “Townie Project” also hosts a 5K road race and festival on Saturday starting at 9 am at the high school.
- Bovi’s Tavern, 287 Taunton Ave., holds a Night to Fight Cancer on Saturday with the Relay for Life Dream Team starting at 8 pm; proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
- Weaver and the Riverside branch libraries will be closed Memorial Day weekend -- Saturday May 25, through Monday, May 27.
