East Providence Hiring 50 Teens, Young Adults For Summer Roles

The program, paid for by the American Rescue Plan, will give young people a chance to develop leadership skills in city roles.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence rolled out a new workforce development program to help young people build leadership experience.

The program targets teens and young adults ages 16-24.

"East Providence’s youth are our future," Mayor Bob DaSilva said. "We want to give our East Providence youth the opportunity to build on their workforce development skills through interviews and resume-building while also giving our city’s young adults exposure to the many different functions of city government including parks, recreation, engineering, library, public safety, clerks, and more."

The program, paid by with funds from the American Rescue Plan, will support the hiring of 50 East Providence residents for the months of May through August (depending on availability) at an hourly rate of $13.50 to $15 per hour. Rate is commensurate with experience.
