East Providence Man Indicted on Murder, Criminal Solicitation Charges

Raymond Grundy has been indicted for the 2010 murder of Staria Silva.

 

The Statewide Grand Jury today reported out an indictment charging Raymond Grundy, 37, of Fifth Ave., East Providence, with one count of first degree murder and one count of criminal solicitation to commit murder for the Dec. 25, 2010 murder of his estranged girlfriend Staria Silva.

It is alleged that on Dec. 25, 2010 Grundy murdered Staria Silva. It is further alleged that between Sept. 1, 2010 and Dec. 25, 2010, Grundy solicited another individual to murder Silva.

According to police reports, on Christmas Day 2010 Linda Silva, mother of Staria, found her daughter lying dead in her apartment in East Providence while Staria’s twin nine-month old baby girls lay crying in their cribs.  Staria had sustained knife wounds to her neck and arms and also showed signs of asphyxia. 

Grundy is presently serving six years as a violator of an unrelated probation and has a felony domestic assault and violation of a no contact order charges pending where Staria Silva was the alleged victim. Grundy also has an unrelated charge of second degree robbery pending.

The case was investigated by the East Providence Police Department.  Grundy is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on November 21, 2012.
