EP Crews Save Dog From Fire Saturday Afternoon
At least one family needed help from the Red Cross after a fire on Saturday.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—Firefighters saved a dog from an apartment building fire on Saturday in East Providence. Crews responded to 1945 Village Green South around 5:45 p.m. According to Battalion Chief Michael Carey, one of the residents alerted the firefighters that the dog was inside. The dog not hurt, and there were no injuries to residents or firefighters, he said.
The fire apparently started outside, and most of the damage was to the exterior. However, there was some minor smoke damage inside, he said. The cause is still under investigation. The Red Cross said Sunday it was assisting one family (two adults and two children).
