Stations feature a reclining chair and personal television, and wireless Internet access is available throughout the center. Home hemo-dialysis is an option for those patients who wish to dialyze in the comfort and privacy of their own homes; patients opting for home hemo-dialysis will be referred to the outpatient dialysis center at 117 Chapman St., Providence.
“We recognize that our patients needing dialysis treatments are busy people – they often are working full-time and managing families,” said Douglas G. Shemin, M.D., medical director of the Rhode Island Hospital Outpatient Dialysis Centers. “By providing both extended hours in a convenient location, and the home hemo-dialysis option, we hope to make the process a bit easier on our patients and their families.”
The center is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team that includes a physician, clinical manager, social worker, dietitian, registered nurses and patient care technicians, all providing a patient to staff ratio of 3:1.
