Martin Middle School Student Charged with Carrying BB Gun in School

East Providence Police reported the March 14 arrest of the juvenile.

 

A student at Edward R. Martin Middle School faces a felony count of possession of a firearm on school grounds following his arrest by East Providence Police on March 14.

Two other students told School Resource Officer Cheri Almeida-Neveu that they had seen the student take a BB pellet gun out of his backpack the afternoon before, and were worried that he may have brought the gun back to school on Thursday, according to police reports.

Almeida-Nuveau and Principal Frank DeVall searched the student's backpack and found the weapon.

Officers filed the weapons charge against the student and released him to his parents.
