Rhode Island Police: 3 DUIs, 2 Crashes Mother's Day Weekend
Rhode Island State Police said three drivers were charged with driving under the influence and two were involved in wrong-way crashes.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — It was a busy weekend in Rhode Island with Rhode Island College's graduation Saturday and Mother's Day Sunday. Thousands of drivers were out on the roads and police said three of them were charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Two of those drivers were involved in wrong-way crashes, police added.
"The actions of those wrong-way drivers created an extremely dangerous situation for every person on the road last night," Rhode Island State Police Colonel Ann Assumpico said in a statement. "Given all of the celebrations taking place this weekend, with proms, graduations, Mother's Day and other events, we are extremely fortunate that no one was killed or seriously injured as a result."
Corey Stott Miller, 28, of Pawtucket, was arrested after police said he was intoxicated and crashed into another vehicle in the opposite lane of traffic on Route 4 in East Greenwich. Miller and two people in the other vehicles were hospitalized with minor injuries and released, police said.
