Hopkinton Man Fined After Being Found With 26 Dogs: Report
The man's fines were issued due to his failure to follow town ordinances, a report said.
HOPKINTON, RI —The man who was found with 26 golden retrievers in his Hopkinton home last week has been fined nearly $2,000, WPRI reported.
The fines, which were issued due to the man's failure to follow town ordinances, were due to his having seven unlicensed dogs, failure to confine five females in heat, and failure to have a kennel license, according to the outlet.

Patch reached out to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for more information.
The SPCA previously told Patch that "the owner was very cooperative and relinquished 20 puppies and six adults."

The puppies were taken safely to a shelter to be examined by a veterinarian and receive any necessary medical care including spay and neuter procedures when ready, according to the spokesperson.
Many will go into foster care, though they are not yet ready for adoption, the spokesperson added.
