Johnston Man Nearly Throws Away $50,000 Winning Lottery Ticket

The ticket was kicking around his car since February and he was about to throw it out when he decided to check the numbers, just in case.

JOHNSTON, RIβ€”A local man nearly lost $50,000 while cleaning out his car.

Thankfully, he checked the numbers on a stray PowerBall ticket that was in his car before throwing it out only to discover that it was a $50,000 winner.

The Rhode Island Lottery Commission said that the man, who asked not to be publicly identified, bought the ticket back in February. He recently found the ticket in his car and was going to throw it out when a friend suggested he check the numbers.
