Annual North American Field Day Drill to Attract More than 30,000 Participants. Local Residents Invited to Participate.

Join the Newport County Radio Club for an exciting weekend of exploring local, regional, and global communication at the annual Field Day event! Taking place Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29th at Glen Park, Gilbert Barker Road, in Portsmouth, this event is a good opportunity to experience the world of amateur (“ham”) radio and get hands-on – Sunday 9AM-2PM – with the club’s “Get On the Air” radio station.
At Field Day, you'll see the power of amateur radio as it operates reliably under extreme conditions, creating an independent communications network. No internet or cell phone infrastructure needed! Within minutes you can set up your own station practically anywhere.
During Field Day 2024, more than 31,000 hams participated from thousands of locations across North America. According to FCC records there are more than 750,000 amateur radio licensees in the US, and an estimated three million worldwide. In the U.S., almost anyone, regardless of age, can become a FCC-licensed amateur radio operator.
