"Ham" Radio's Field Day 2024: We’ll Get You on the Air

2024's North American Field Day Drill to Attract More than 20,000 "Radio Active" Participants as Solar Cycle 25 Approaches Peak

Members of the he Newport County Radio Club invite the public to a weekend of exploring local, regional, and global communication at the annual Field Day event! Taking place June 22-23 at Glen Park, Gilbert Barker Road, Portsmouth, this event provides an opportunity to experience the world of amateur (“ham”) radio and get hands-on with the “Get On the Air” radio station.

At Field Day, club members will show power of amateur radio as it operates under extreme conditions, creating an independent communications network. No internet or cell phone infrastructure needed! Within minutes one can set up a radio station practically anywhere.

Field Day will be one-part contest, one-part emergency communications exercise, and one-part open house -- and a great time. This year's theme -- "Be Radio Active" -- encourages radio amateurs to take advantage of the peak of Solar Cycle 25, which we are nearing. Activity this year is likely to be extremely high thanks to favorable solar conditions.
