Middletown Firefighters Battle Two-Alarm Fire
The fire broke out on Wave Avenue on Sunday.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire on Wave Avenue on Sunday that displaced five people, including two children.
Crews had to contend with temperatures in the single digits as they worked to knock down the flames.
The fire broke out at around 11:15 a.m. in the kitchen of the restaurant located at 44 Wave Ave., according to reports. The caused damage to apartments above Rusty’s Bar and Grill.

The American Red Cross is assisting one family that was displaced by the fire including three adults and two children.
Officials said that nobody was hurt in the fire. Rusty’s suffered some water damage.

Crews had the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
Middletown firefighters received mutual aid from Portsmouth, Tiverton, Newport and Naval Station Newport firefighters.
The fire is under investigation.
