Middletown Firefighters to Shave Head for a Cause

For the third year in a row, members of the Middletown Fire Department plan to shave their heads for a cause. If they reach their team fundraising goal of $2,500 to battle childhood cancer, the firefighters will go bald on March 14 as part of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation charity drive.

Nobody knows more about the pain of losing someone to cancer better than Middletown Fire Inspector Jon Reese, who is organizing this year’s event.

“I lost my mom year and a half ago to cancer,” said Reese. “My grandmother died a number of years ago.”

Reese said the drive is a way the firefighters can make a positive impact to the community.   

“Obviously we have the image of public servants, we want to try to go out and make a difference in other ways too,” said Reese.
