Middletown Police Arrest Speedway Employee On Newport Warrant
The 29-year-old Middletown man was taken into custody in connection with a gun tossed in a dumpster at Park Holm, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—Marchan M. Hines, 29, of Middletown, was taken into custody on Tuesday night at the Speedway, where he works. Police arrested him at 8:50 p.m. on an arrest warrant from the Newport Police. Hines was wanted in connection with a reported fight earlier this month at the Park Holm apartments. Police were called there for "a big street fight" around 5:05 p.m. on May 3. But when officers arrived, they did not find any fight in progress. They did find "several crowds" of people leaving, however.
Officers stayed at the scene while the crowds broke up, and they did witness several people going over to a dumpster. Meanwhile, police received information about a gun, which had been tossed in a dumpster at Park Holm "near a break in the fence with Middletown." After searching the dumpster, officers found the gun. The investigation turned up a Facebook page and a possible suspect's name.
Hines was charged with a felony Loaded gun weapons in vehicles. Police said they recovered a Remington shotgun. He was also charged with Disorderly Conduct.
