Four Newport County residents will be honored by East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) at its 18th Annual Seaside Gala on June 15 at Atlantic Resort Newport. They are: Louisa Boatwright of Newport, Amintha Cinotti, Lissa Fernandez, and Linda Finn, all of Middletown. Each will receive a 2023 Vision Award in recognition of their ongoing support as members of the organization’s Baby Steps Advisory Group.

The EBCAP Vision Awards are presented to individuals and organizations that have made a profound impact on the agency, the lives of its clients, and the surrounding community. Members of the Baby Steps Advisory Group are being recognized for their long-standing commitment and dedication to the program. They have assisted Baby Steps since its inception in 2009, and they have continued their involvement as the Advisory Group since 2019 when the program was integrated fully into EBCAP’s array of services. “These individuals were the pioneers in advocating for family education programming, which is evident in all they do to support Baby Steps. This group is the reason the program is successful today. For its first ten years, they volunteered to manage Baby Steps as its governing Board and developed a funding base of community members and foundations. Their effort and commitment to the families in Newport is unmatched,” said Rita Capotosto, EBCAP’s Vice President of Family Development.

Also being recognized as 2023 Vision Award recipients are Brenda and Cameron Booth of Rumford, RI, volunteers at EBCAP’s Career Closet; Gates of Hope, a Fall River, MA non-profit, for its partnership with EBCAP’s East Bay Recovery Center to provide food and other resources to community members; and Dr. Tonya Glantz of Rhode Island College for her support of EBCAP’s Transgender Whole Health program.

David Bachrach, Community Development Director for the City of East Providence, will receive EBCAP’s 2023 Public Service Award for his leadership and advocacy in support of safe and affordable housing, for his collaboration to help EBCAP better serve its clients, and for actively engaging to improve the well-being of East Providence residents.
