• Middletown names winners of sixth annual Holiday Card Art Contest (whatsupnewp.com) — Middletown has picked four local artists’ designs to appear on the town’s official holiday cards, highlighting scenes like Second Beach, Prescott Farm, and a visit from the Middletown Fire Department. Gaudet Middle School students and two adult residents were honored at Town Hall, with officials praising the contest as a uniquely community-driven Rhode Island tradition.
   

• Newport Police Heighten Security Following Brown University and Bondi Beach Mass Shootings (thenewportbuzz.com) — Middletown officers serving on the Newport County Special Response Team helped secure Brown University’s campus after the recent fatal shooting, and Newport police have now stepped up patrols citywide. While there’s no specific threat to Aquidneck Island, law enforcement from Middletown and neighboring towns are increasing visibility around schools and public areas and urging residents to stay alert and report anything suspicious.
