PD: Man Arrested for DUI Allegedly Urinated in Vehicle

The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction

John Harrington, 55, of 64 Perrault St., Portsmouth was arrested on Wednesday morning around 1:11 on charges of driving while under the influence.  Police said Harrington drove erratically down south down East Main Road with his high beams illuminated, before he was stopped just south of the Ramada Inn.

Harrington said he had left a friend’s house in Portsmouth and was trying to find his home, also in Portsmouth, said police.  Police said his shorts appeared wet at smelled of urine.  When asked if he had urinated himself in his vehicle, he allegedly replied “I’m not sure, but I think so.”

Police said Harrington lost balance during the field sobriety tests and had to catch him so he would not fall.  He was arrested without incident.  Police found a half empty bottle of vodka under the driver’s seat.

Harrington was also cited with refusal to submit to a chemical test, operating below minimum speed, a laned roadway violation, use of multiple beam lamps and presence of alcoholic beverages while operating in a vehicle.
