Salve Regina Rallies for Boston Marathon Victims
Salve Regina held a 1.5-mile walk and run Thursday to show support and solidarity for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Salve Regina University showed it's "Boston Strong" on Thursday with a 1.5-mile walk/run as an expression of support for the victims of the Patriots Day bombing at the Boston Marathon finish area.
About 100 students and members of the community attended the walk. Many wore blue and gold ribbons as a sign of support, as well as Bruins T-shirts, Red Sox hats and T-shirts with "Boston" written upon it.Â

Participants also wrote messages of thanks on cards to Boston's first responders, doctors and nurses.Â
Kelly Powers, director of community services at Salve, organized the walk. Powers, a three-time Boston Marathon runner, gave up her number this year at the last minute.Â

Powers talks about the walk in the video above. Salve Regina President Jane Gerety, RSM, also gave a word of advice to the participants in the video above.Â
"This is solidarity that you feel," Gerety said.Â
