Vietnam War Veteran Dies at Age 81

George Elmer Keckler, Jr., 81, of Barton Lane, Middletown, RI and formerly of Beechview Terrace, Middletown, RI, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Newport Hospital.

After graduating De La Salle in Newport, he entered the US Air Force in 1950 serving 14 years.

In 1964, he left the Air Force and joined the US Army serving two tours in Vietnam and retired from Fort Belvoir, VA in 1971 as a Sergeant First Class. Mr. Keckler was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and served in the Intelligence field within the Army. He has resided in Middletown since then.
