1 Killed, 2 Injured In Wrong-Way South Kingstown Crash

The driver was headed the wrong-way down Route 1 South and crashed head-on into two other vehicles.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — One person was killed and two others injured in a wrong-way crash in South County Tuesday evening.

Around 5 p.m., a caller told South Kingstown police there was a wrong-way driver on Route One South, near Moonstone Beach Road. Police identified the driver as 56-year-old Robert Brown, a Cranston resident.

Brown's 2019 Buick Encore collided head-on with two other vehicles, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other two drivers were identified as 59-year-old Lisa Brunetti and 47-year-old Stephen Hatch. Both are Charlestown residents.

Brunetti was flown by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that were severe but not thought to be life-threatening, police said. Hatch had minor injuries and did not receive medical treatment.
