5 THINGS: Horse Whispering and Governmenting

An author talks about horses at Peace Dale Library tonight, or you could go to a council meeting. (Tough choice, I know.)

Here are the Five Things for Monday, June 18, 2012:

Neigh!” – The Black Stallion. At the Peace Dale Library, Christine Wolfe will talk about her book, The Language of the Aids: All About The Different Ways You Can Communicate With The Horse You Are Riding, Regardless Of Your Style. The event starts at 7 p.m., and it's free. Copies of her book will be available for sale. For more info, click here.

The business of government business. The Narragansett Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight. For an agenda and what not, click here.

Blogging, events, letters, what more could you want? Many people often ask me, “Hey are you the Patch guy?” And the answer is yes, yes I am. Then, most often they want to know how they can get things on the site. Let me present you with three options:

  • The easiest way for me is if you use our blog form. If you have a user account, congrats! You can submit directly to our queue by going here. For more info on blogging, go here.
  • If you think your item is more appropriate for the events calendar, that's a simple enough process as well. Go here, and then hit the “Add An Event” button at the bottom of the page. (Note: You might want to search for your event first, since we do have a calendar editor that adds things on her own awesome initiative.)
  • Finally, do you need some input before posting? Or do you have a release that is more of a traditional “letter to the editor” thing? Fine then – send it along to me, either at stephen.greenwell@patch.com or narragansett@patch.com.

And then everyone lived happily every after. On this day in 1858, Charles Darwin received a paper from Alfred Russel Wallace that mirrored his own thoughts on evolution, and which pushed Darwin to publish. Of course, after that point, everything was hunky-dory and no one ever fought over science and religion ever again.

Whoa, princesses. On this day in 1269, Princess Eleanor of England was born. She is not to be confused with Princess Elanor of Woodstock, of course, who was born in 1318.
