Rebels take second in Division I baseball. In a do-or-die game, South Kingstown struggled in game two of their best-of-three series against Hendricken, losing 5-0 at McCoy Stadium. Tom Pannone only allowed a single hit against the Rebels and was named the most valuable player of the series. For a small article from The Providence Journal, click here.

Crusaders take second in Division II baseball. Things weren’t any better on the diamond for Prout on Thursday night. The Crusaders lost to Johnston, 7-1, as the Panthers swept Prout in the best-of-three series. Johnston Patch’s Joe Hutnak did a liveblog from the game – Click to read it. The Providence Journal also wrote about the game, which you can read here.

In case you missed it – Rebels’ volleyball wins state championship. Check out video and photos from South Kingstown’s win against Bishop Hendricken .

Definitely not like True Blood, since there are no sassy southern vampires, and everyone is not naked. There will be a blood drive 3 p.m. today at the South County Church of Christ. For more info, click .

Potter Productions picks pleasantly pleasing… movies. Tonight is the first meeting of the Potter Productions film club at the Kingston Free Library. They’ll be screening Harold and Maude at 7:30 p.m. For more info, click . (Note: Harold and Maude is rated-PG, but you might want to read about it on IMDB, and the recommended groups for the event are moms, dads and seniors.)

I would like to receive your periodical on a full-time daily basis. If that's the case, then you can get it in your e-mail box, bright and early each morning, by going here.

Blogging, events, letters, what more could you want? Many people often ask me, “Hey are you the Patch guy?” And the answer is yes, yes I am. Then, most often they want to know how they can get things on the site. Let me present you with three options:

  • The easiest way for me is if you use our blog form. If you have a user account, congrats! You can submit directly to our queue by going here. For more info on blogging, go here.
  • If you think your item is more appropriate for the events calendar, that's a simple enough process as well. Go here, and then hit the “Add An Event” button at the bottom of the page. (Note: You might want to search for your event first, since we do have a calendar editor that adds things on her own awesome initiative.)
  • Finally, do you need some input before posting? Or do you have a release that is more of a traditional “letter to the editor” thing? Fine then – send it along to me, either at stephen.greenwell@patch.com or narragansett@patch.com.

Whew, close call! On this day in 2002, we narrowly missed being hit by 2002 MN, an asteroid. Of course, “narrow” is a relative term in space, and in this case it means 75,000 miles.

Ah, my doppleganger! Singer Harry Nilsson would be 71 if he were alive. I mostly know him as “the celebrity that looks freakishly like me.” The resemblance isn’t super-strong in that Wikipedia link, but if you really want to see it, go to Amazon. (Although, I don’t smoke a pipe, or smoke at all.)
