5 THINGS: Some Baseball is Finally Played in the Rain

Area teams manage to sneak in a couple games on Thursday afternoon, between lightning strikes.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, June 8, 2012:

High school sports fever, catch it! Here is the sports schedule for today and recent results:

  • In Division II baseball, Narragansett beat Juanita Sanchez High School 8-2 on Thursday afternoon to earn a rematch with Woonsocket. If the Mariners can beat Woonsocket at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, they will play a second game. If they win the second game, they advance to the Final Four of Division II, which would start 4 p.m. Sunday against the Prout School.
  • With a 5-4 win against West Warwick, the Prout School has advanced to the Final Four in Division II baseball. The Crusaders will face the winner of the Woonsocket-Narragansett series 4 p.m. Sunday.
  • In Division II softball, Prout vs. East Greenwich was suspended once again from Thursday because of thunder and lightning. The game will be played – maybe! – at 7 p.m. tonight at Rhode Island College.
  • Along similar lines, the Division I baseball game between Pilgrim and South Kingstown has also been delayed to today. The game takes place at 2:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the Final Four.
  • In Division I boys’ volleyball, No. 2 South Kingstown hosts the winner of Coventry vs. La Salle at 7:30 p.m. on June 13.

Insert old plastic surgery joke here. While Joan Rivers’ body turns 79 today, her face is still just 18. Thank you folks, enjoy your headliner, try the fish!
