Applications Open For South Kingstown Firefighter Scholarships

The six scholarships will range from $1,000 to $2,500. Any student applying must be a graduating senior or a South Kingstown firefighter.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Chief Steven Pinch of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown and Chief Tom Reed of the Kingston Fire District have joined with the town to offer six qualified candidates 2024 firefighter scholarships.

The six scholarships will range from $1,000 to $2,500. Any student applying for a scholarship must be a graduating senior in the class of 2024 or a current South Kingstown firefighter and meet one of the following requirements to apply:

  • Have a direct family connection to a current or life member of either the Union Fire District of South Kingstown or Kingston Fire District
  • Serve as a current member of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown or the Kingston Fire District.
  • Attend South Kingstown High School or the Prout School as a senior, pursuing a career in fire services/emergency medicine.

Students must complete the online application no later than 10 p.m. May 5, providing the name of a two- or four-year college, technical or trade school, or accredited EMT or higher medical training program of study they plan to attend.

The application requires the student to write, in 300 words or fewer, what public service means to them.

A high school transcript is also required and must include first-semester senior grades if the student is graduating from high school in 2024. Transcripts must be emailed to skfirescholarships@gmail.com with the student’s last name and “2024 South Kingstown Firefighter Scholarships” in the subject line.
